Moon Landing 50 Celebrations in Ireland

The 50th Anniversary of the Apollo 11 Moon Landing will be marked with events nationwide in Ireland.
A live broadcast from Blackrock Castle Observatory will look back on this incredible mission as well as taking a look at Ireland’s contribution to space exploration.“50 Years: To The Moon and Back” will air on RTÉ One, 20 July at 6:30pm. A Cork Moon Walk and Walking Trail Resource runs in Cork city over the anniversary weekend.
MoonWatch events take place nationwide including in Galway, Cork and Dublin. Galway Arts Festival are holding a special RAS 200 exhibition. In Mayo, enjoy a talk with historian and astronomer Brian MacGabhann or Moon Drawing workshops with Deirdre Kelleghan.
The Irish Astronomical Society also presents images of the Moon, planets and other night sky objects at the Phoenix Park Visitor Centre during the month of July with a special public talk titled "Apollo 11 - To the Moon and Back" by Paul Evans 27th July at 11am.
Festival of Curiosity features Moonshots of the 21st-century; while in Armagh the ‘Moon on the Mall’ is open July 20 and 21 as part of Armagh Observatory and Planetarium celebrations of 50th anniversary of Apollo 11.
