In the small town of Puerto Colombia, the community will gather to celebrate Moon Landing 50. Children will be gathered to observe the Moon through telescopes, talks will be given, and a special radio program will be conducted.
The school UPA ("Portean Learning Unit", Unidad Porteña de Aprendizaje) has a recognized experience in educating and training new generations of journalist and communicators using its own radio programs UPA Radio, Voz Infantil (Childish voice) and Hola Juventud (Hello Youth), on air for over 30 years. Recently, the community has also undertaken the adventure to build an astronomical observatory to be enjoyed by the whole community. This event hopes to bring people closer to space science through these space science lessons, moon related lectures, radio programs and astronomical observations that combines the work of the school and observatory.
